Civil rights organisation AfriForum has written to Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana requesting that the temporary cut in the general fuel levy be made permanent.The government reduced the fuel levy by R3 per litre in April and May 2026 to help ease the pressure of rising fuel prices. This brought relief of R1.50 per litre on petrol and R1.97 on diesel in June.
